The 5.11® Responder Parka is designed to outfit those that are first on the scene and last to leave. The shell jacket in this 3 in 1 system utilizes a durable waterproof 10,000mm fabric, detailed with ?" reflective tape at the hem, chest, and sleeves and reflective piping along front/back yoke and sleeves. Fully seam sealed waterproof, breathable garment construction. The shell is lined with its own 10,000mm DuPont® dot laminated taffeta which creates a reliable barrier to blood borne pathogens. The liner boasts a warm 290g 2 sided polyester fleece with abrasion and water resistant panels on the collar, shoulder yoke and back of forearm, multiple cavernous pockets and the Back Up Belt System™ compatible to hold all your gear and a specifically designed easy access radio pocket. The Responder Parka is there to answer the call whenever the call comes in.

I like just about everything about this jacket, but it has one glaring problem: the front (main) zipper pull came off the zipper almost immediately! The jacket is exactly what it is claimed to be: water and wind proof, warm, comfortable, pockets everywhere (so many I forget where I put things!) and some are just HUGE. What almost no review or product descriptions I have found tell you is that this garment has side-entry front pockets as well as flap-covered top entry pockets for ease of putting hands in pockets to warm them.It is almost too warm if doing any real physical labor or maneuvering, but if you need warmth, it is excellent. The hood had a cool detail that allows the large, full coverage hood to be adjusted via velcro strap so that it rides a bit back on the head and allows for full visibility while in place; something I have never seen before and which is a real useful addition to the jacket. It keeps the hood off the face when being worn out, and when not being worn it rolls into the collar to create a thick, warm protective collar.The trouble, as I mentioned, is that the zipper should not come apart like that on a garment of this quality and price! I was able to jury-rig a fix by burning a small hole in the zipper flap and attaching a cable tie to the lower pull to keep it held up so it doesn't readily come off the zipper, but it will come off if pulled a bit and if the top pull falls off the zipper is in effect useless. Not good design!I would recommend.
