This pant is made from seam taped waterproof and breathable Marmot MemBrain® fabric and has a water resistant polyester mesh lining, hand pockets with water resistant zippers, a cargo pocket with a water resistant zipper, a back pocket with a water resistant zipper, an adjustable waist with a snap closure and zip fly, Cordura® scuff guards, anatomic articulation zones, internal gaiters with gripper elastic, boot loops, and ankle zippers.

I ordered these pants for Fall/Winter/Spring back-country skiing and hiking. First impressions were great. They are comfortable, look great, and move very well. The color is not quite what I was expecting, the Tarmack color is more of an olive drab than the brownish in the online pictures. I took them on a few winter hikes with a thin base layer and was not very happy however. They are very windproof, but have almost zero breathe-ability. With only a thin base layer, I was sweating like crazy while climbing in 15 to 30 degree F weather, and soaking myself from the inside. I can't say about it being waterproof, since I didn't experience rain (and probably never will, since I live in the desert), but it did hold my sweat in very well. I'm very unhappy with the breathe-ability of the membrane fabric. The one other gripe I have about these pants is the hold-up system. The tighteners on the waist have a very small range and there is no way to wear a belt since there are only belt loops on the front (for looks?). There is no built-in way to attach suspenders either. The one thing I do like about these pants is how tough they are. The material seems like it could take tons of abuse.Overall, I would only use these pants for low energy cold weather activities or very, very cold conditions where I don't expect to sweat.
