Made with high bulk acrylic, this sock acts as a temperature control system. The pressure points of the foot, in the heel and toe, are protected by a cushioning system designed to aid in shock absorbtion, as well as prevent abraison. Elastic is used in the arch to provide support. The heel and toes are specially knit for the best fit, without the threat of discomfort from seams.

These socks are not comfortable. I thought they were supposed to be made of acrylic. They're not.

Having been a real fan of smartwool---especially as smartwool moved into the area of light weight socks, someone told me that he switched to Mephisto after Mephisto socks USED to be manufactured by Smartwool, but Mephisto had gone in a new direction. Well, just one purchase is all it took! I have some smart wool socks that are now 10 years old and still going strong, and I find that the material and the feel are superior. It is hard to describe "feel" for a sock; it is so subjective. I can only tell you that the weaving feels even tighter than smartwool and it feels as close to a foot massage that you can imagine. I have many pairs, rotate them regularly, and take good care of them. I wash them separately, use fabric softner and dry them inside out, as directed. I will own no other!
