When you need extra insulation against the elements, good shock absorption and support under heavy loads, this is the sock for you. Heavy cushioning throughout this sock makes it perfect for hardcore hiking, long treks and heavy-laden backpacking.
This heavyweight cushioning also provides extra comfort, insulation and protection. Elasticized ankle brace holds heel in place and allows for less bulk and greater forward flex in the boot.
Features a High Density Footbed (HDF) for improved performance, comfort and durability. Crew height.
Content: 77% SmartWool, 22% nylon, 1% elastic. Machine wash warm. Tumble dry. Do not bleach.

Excellent Socks.I used them on an 89 mile trek at Philmont Scout Ranch, only one blister, my son used them also and had no blisters. The fit was excellent, and have lasted two years, and I will be using them again at Philmont at the end of July. I was concerned that a wool sock would be hot, but that was not the case. They also have excellent wicking properties.

The Smartwool expeditions are without a doubt the best socks I've ever owned. They last for years (3-4), and I wear them to work every day. They are very very comfortable. They are cool in hot weather and warm in the cold. The most amazing thing is my feet don't smell at all even after a 12 hour work day!

Without doubt, these socks provide the best comfort, warmth or coolness of any other make on the market. I walk 3 miles to work both ways, and my feet still feel great afterwards. Buy several pairs when these go on special!

I bought these socks because I need a cushioned sock that keeps my feet comfortable all day long. Some of my days are 12 hours and longer. I tend to be warm and yet these socks are great. My feet are not too warm. The cushioning is great. I work in surgery and the floors are unforgiving. I was having sore spots developing because my cotton socks were getting pretty worn and I had rubbing on the same spot on both feet. After wearing a couple different styles of Smartwool socks for almost two weeks now, my sore spots are not sore anymore! I'm a convert! Thanks!
