Yes they make it easier to tie the shoes but they make it very difficult to UNTIE the shoes. So they still can't do the shoes by themselves - now I have to help untie - I'm going to return them

My 6 yo son literally learned to tie his shoes within 20 minutes of putting the tie buddies on his shoes. They mainly help little kids grasp the laces and become familiar with the technique of tying shoes. I highly recommend these.
